Planning your Wedding Abroad

At Bridesandbeaches we understand it can be very confusing deciding what, where and who to choose to help you planning your perfect wedding day.

We have put together a guide below that may help you planning, please feel free to contact us at any time and at any stage in your plans.

Before Booking

  • Contact our specialist team to discuss your requirements and help us understand your specific needs and to narrow down the options to a few of the right choices for your special day.
  • Choose location.
  • Check the number of days you legally need to be in the country before your wedding can take place, and all the legal requirements thoroughly before deciding on the dates.

Booking your wedding

  • For piece of mind we recommend you book as far in advance as possible however certain destinations such as Dominican republic , Mexico and Rhodes require a minimum of 12 weeks notice.
  • Contact our specialist team on 0844 844 0910 to check availability for your chosen destination and hotel.
  • If you are travelling with a large wedding party we will find the best group discounts that are available.

2 weeks after booking

  • You will receive your individual wedding information pack, please take the time to read through this thoroughly, it is very important because you need to check you have all the relevant documentation and comply with the legal requirements for the country you are visiting. At this point any documents that need completing and returning to us need to be done promptly, allowing plenty of time should any documents go missing.

10 – 4 weeks prior to departure

  • You will receive an additional information sheet which will need to be completed and returned to us.
  • You will also receive a confirmation letter detailing the date and time of your wedding ceremony.
  • Check that your passport and any visas are valid.
  • Contact your local GP to check any specific health requirements, vaccinations and other preventative measures should be taken in plenty of time, in order to be effective for when you travel.
  • If you wish we can assist with any stag or hen party arrangements.
  • Let us know if there are any additional guests attending the wedding that are not on your booking and if they are not staying at your hotel. They will probably need day passes at your hotel and they may be a small charge.
  • Contact our specialist team on 0844 844 0910 to find out what special touches can be arranged.

4 – 1 weeks prior to departure

  • Check you have all the original documentation to take with you to the resort.
  • Order any Travellers Cheques and Currency.
  • Make sure you have a suitable luggage carrier for your wedding clothes, remember they will be travelling in the aircraft hold.

On Arrival

  • When you arrive at your destination you will meet with your wedding co-ordinator, either from the tour operator we have made the arrangements with or from the hotel direct as some hotels prefer to handle their own arrangements. Together you will check that you have all the necessary documentation and set a suitable day and time and discuss locations for the ceremony (if you have not already done so prior to departure).
  • Your co-ordinator will take you through every aspect of the ceremony and with their local knowledge offers all the expertise to make you special day go smoothly, also you can discuss the finer points of your special day such as photographs, videos, music and flowers, they can also advise on any beauty treatments that may be available before the big day.

The day before

  • Your wedding co-ordinator will contact you today to ensure the smooth running of you big day, and put your mind at rest, they will go through a final run through of the ceremony with you, make any last minute changes you require if possible (subject to availability and any local charges) and be able to answer any final questions.

The big Day

  • Your wedding co-ordinator will be on hand to make sure everything goes according to plan, they will check the venue to make sure it has been decorated appropriately, and aim to have everyone when and where they need to be for the ceremony.
  • Following the ceremony there will time for the photographs before the celebrations begin.

The Celebrations

  • Depending on your party size, you may want a romantic dinner for 2 or alternatively if you are with a wedding party a reception meal may be arranged. Most hotels offer a buffet service for such occasions however if you require something specific on the menu (or room decorations and entertainment) your wedding co-ordinator will be able to assist.

Before you leave

  • In most cases you will receive your marriage certificate at the hotel after the ceremony. It is important that you check every detail and that they are correct.
  • Where your marriage certificate is not ready prior to departure, you're tour operator will send it to your home address ( in some Caribbean locations it can take quite some while for the certificates to come through).
  • If you want to have certified copies of the certificates please speak to your wedding co-ordinator.
